Today we're pleased to announce a new update to ETA. It comes roughly a month after our last 1.1 release and welcomes a bunch of new features and refinements.
We're pleased to offer ETA in 11 additional languages. The full list includes:
We've received a lot of feedback from our users that they'd like a large text view and bigger tap areas on buttons to help using ETA in the car. Don't worry, we've been listing and with today's release we're offering both.
We've implemented bigger buttons in the location toolbar and large text mode can be activated via the corresponding option in the setting panel.
Not that we ever wanted to mislead our users but we have a little secret to share. ETA (short for Estimated Time of Arrival) isn't exactly what we've been displaying even though it's the name of the app. The true definition of ETA is the time that you'll arrive (e.g. 12.58pm). Since version 1.0 we've only displayed the ETE (short for Estimated Time En Route), which is the duration of your trip (eg. 15 minutes).
Now in version 1.2 you can show either the time you're due to arrive or the duration of your trip. Furthermore, if you select to display the ETE you'll find the ETA in the toolbar below the location. The reverse will be in effect if you select ETA.
In the expanded toolbar under each location you'll now find an option enabling you to quickly SMS or iMessage your ETA.
We've pre-fill the message text with all the important details so in a couple of taps your loved ones will be well informed of when you're due home!
Our love affair with Photoshop continued in this release and we've welcomed in a slightly tweaked icon. We promise it isn't meant to represent a Venn diagram. The idea behind it stems from seeing a car's headlights in your rear vision mirror.
Hopefully this is obvious as everyone should be in your rear view mirror when you're using ETA! :)
We've added new functionality to the ETA URL scheme. You can now script the addition of locations. If you're interested in learning more on this head over to our other post dedicated to this feature.
We've also crammed in a bunch of bug fixes to solve a few issues we found in the contact integration introduced in version 1.1. Hopefully that runs a lot smoother for the few that were having issues.

That about wraps it up and we hope you like the update. If you've got any comments or questions please feel free to send us an email or fire a tweet our way!
Oh and finally, if you haven't already, you really should pick up a copy of ETA. It's available now on the App Store
